The engineering consultants aar-naval ltd. was founded on 20th September 2005 by Dipl.-Ing. Holger Steffen. Afore Mr. Steffen had developed the pressure laboratory DL2 in context of the BMBF-project "OMEGA" from December 2000 to May 2005, which is now located at IFM-GEOMAR in Kiel, Germany and is engaged in the projects "COMET-GRAL", funded by the German BMBF and the project "CARBOOCEAN", funded by the EU. The laboratory can be viewed in Kiel. This work included the construction of all devices as well as all individual production steps from developing solutions for the single functional tasks to assembling the parts delivered from the factories and certifying of the whole facility. The photos and screen-shots of CAE depicted on this site show mostly parts of the pressure laboratory DL2. Adjacently, the practical operation of the pressure laboratory was supervised. Herewith it was possible to gain relevant experiences in applying pressure laboratories and in finding new ideas of improvement as well as new fields of application.

We have extensive experience using the electronic equipment of a modern engineering office, such as CAE implementations I-DEAS, ProEngineer, AutoCAD, VariCAD, CFD-programs as Comet, single modules of continuum analysis such as GID and OpenDX. Our standard CAE applications are ProEngineer Wildfire and AutoCAD, but we are willing to acquire other licenses in context of major assignments. Furthermore, we like to use open source software and have extensive knowledge in their application.

From June 1999 to November 2000 Mr. Steffen accomplished wind tunnel measurements with models of the space shuttle EOS in context of the DFG research area 253 from Mach 0.3 to Mach 3.0 at the institute of aerodynamics Aachen. This included the construction of the needed wind tunnel models.

Mr. Steffen has studied aerospace engineering at the TU Berlin with emphasis on continuum analysis and physical engineering.
